I grew up with Buddhism in Malaysia, I now try to be a better Jain, learning about Jainism has helped me live my life with others in 'mind'. I am not always good at it, but I do try, and when I stray off the path, I bring myself back to thinking of others. A lot of your writing, and thoughts are so similar to my own views, and so refreshing to listen to 'like minded' people like yourself. If we had a world full of Andrew Dittons like yourself, then what a better world it would be.
You're right, again! Yes, everyone is different thank goodness! Although the original saying is still correct too because you know yourself that you want to be treated well & with respect so if you are a decent human being, you do the same thing. I really hope the work starts to pick up again for you because you are so good at what you do, you have been a true ambassador for the industry and it should be acknowledged! Happy Hogmanay Andrew! All the very best for 2021! Love & hugs! xx
Cheers Mike! Hope it's better for you both too, and fingers crossed I'll get to see you next time I'm down. Or maybe it's the year for you both to take a holiday to Uist? ;)
I remember once attending a lecture by the Wiltshire Police where the question came up what is equality? The officer giving the lecture gave the example, what if you had a team of people and you bought each of them a bacon role. Is that treating everyone equally? Well yes on the face of it, it is, but what if there are team members who are Muslim, or Jewish or vegetarian? We would all wish to be treated equally according to our religion, beliefs, needs or values.
Happy New Year Andrew and Dougal and everyone else in Team Dutton. X
Thanks Roger! There *IS* an easy way to ask those not so close to you how they'd like to be treated - ask them! But this is mostly about those people who force their values on others, despite knowing it might not be good for the other person.

Aww, thanks Sandra!

I'd love to! Let's see how the year pans out, if there's one thing I've learned from 2020 it's not to try and make too many plans...

Good blog - as a customer facing person myself, it certainly makes for interesting reading. Hope Santa was good to both you and Dougal!
